Found: Convenience From PDAs

Touch screen technology is being introduced into Portable Digital Assistants (PDAs). This has become fashionable as it now becomes easier to operate the PDAs. A touch with a finger or a stylus on the display area of the touchscreen is detected instantly by the PDAs. The function displayed on the point of touch gets activated. There is actually no need of an intermediary as the stylus as the finger itself is enough. The display area of the touchscreen becomes the interface between the operator and the device. This makes the conventional mouse or a touchpad redundant as these are replaced by the display and the touch. Touchscreen technology was developed during the 1960s. It was used in a computer assisted learning terminal in 1972. The HP-150 launched in 1983 was one of the first commercial touchscreen computers. Touchscreen technology has further evolved into multipoint touchscreen where the touchscreen responds to more than one finger at a time. The Media Player Comes Of Age

Audio, video and images are now combined in the portable media player. The common audio format used is the MP3 audio format. Audio format such as WAV, Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) and the Windows Media Audio may also be supported by the media player. LCD or OLED screen is used normally to display images. Images are usually displayed using the JPEG format although some may also support other file formats like PNG, GIF and TIFF to view images. MPEG-4 video format is supported by most of the portable media players. Windows Media Video (WMV) and AVI formats may also be supported, in addition, by the players. Video transfer besides audio transfer between the computer and player is possible using USB cables in most of the portable media players as well as portable digital assistants (PDAs).
