Links is a great necessity and you need them very much. Google prefers sites that have lots of links pointing to them from good quality sites with the same type of content. It is very time consuming but learn about it, it will be well worth the effort.

For many years I missed out on great traffic because I underestimated the power of creating valuable links to my sites.

You can basically have different types of links

You can create links from all kinds of directories for instance. They will be one way links or reciprocal links. If you add the link back to their site, you will have a link that will follow through to your site by search engines.

Maybe the most important links will be the ones that are given to you by quality web sites with the same content as yours. Although this can be a time consuming task I would like to encourage you to go through the drills and add those links. Be aware though that if you place too many links in a short period, Google will think you are spamming them and trying to outsmart them. They might just ban your site for that. Rather add no more than 5 links per day to your site.

My suggestion to you will be the following, work out a linking campaign and stick to it. Make sure you understand the importance of linking and how to do it. There is more to it than just sticking a few links up there.
